KFC was founded by Colonel Harland Sanders in the 1950’s. What’s amazing here is that when the Colonel started Kentucky Fried Chicken and became a multi-millionaire he was no "spring chicken" himself!

You see the Colonel had a Secret Recipe that he developed and was proven to be successful. He just knew that others would want his Secret Recipe… they told him so time and time again… "come on can’t you tell us your secret recipe?… we’ll even pay you for it?"
The Colonel never reveal his Secret Recipe to them, he just knew it would be worth more some day if he could just leverage it and distribute it to many people. He was old… but heck he still had time.
So, after receiving his first social security check in 1955 for $105 he decided he wasn’t going to sit back in his rocking chair and let life pass him by. More importantly… he wasn’t going to let his Secret Recipe die with him.
The Colonel used his last few dollars and went into action quickly convincing several friends and associates to invest in his delicious "Secret Recipe" for his fried chicken.
With the help of his investors, the Colonel created Kentucky Fired Chicken at the ripe old age of 65. As soon as he started up he immediately began franchising his restaurant with his "Secret Recipe" so he could distribute it to many people as he had dreamed of.
The Colonel took his "Secret Recipe" and grew his restaurant Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC) until he retired at the age of 80 due to an illness. He achieved his dream when he retired and he was no longer penniless. He was a multi-millionaire all because of his "Secret Recipe".
Today, Kentucky Fried Chicken is now one of the largest most successful food corporations in the world with more than 14,800 franchised outlets in more than 100 countries and over $500 million in sales.
